Sugar Article 1

Soft drinks give immense pleasure to all of us, especially kids. We all love to drink these. They make a mouth-watering, tasty and sugary drink.
The problem with us and soft drinks is that we drink a whole lot in one go. Like 600ml in the cinemas, around 350ml (or more) with junk food, more than half a liter in parties and a lot more. We just drink it carelessly.
I got to know some news sometime ago. It was some serious news. It was about how excessive added sugar can really harm you. It also told about plentiful amount of sugar it had. It took me a minute to link these two news pieces. It was really shocking. I couldn’t believe it could harm me so bad. I had to put a stop to it.
Did you know a small cup of a soft drink you take has around 23 grams of sugar. And a large container has around 45 grams of sugar in it! Plus, a normal can of your everyday soft drink has around 33g of sugar in it!
Extra sugar is toxic and is poison to our body. It has some horrifying symptoms that really harm your body. The first and main symptom is that sugar is the major cause of obesity in children. It makes them fat and limits them to minimum physical activities. It keeps them away from living a fit life. Children have diabetes in a very young age. It causes many heart diseases. Children have less alertness and very high blood pressure. Their kidneys go bad, pancreas goes bad, creates high risk of cancer at older ages and causes them to become lazy and sit around. They keep their eyes fixed on the television. It also increases the risk of depression! Intake of excessive sugar causes long term effects. This is obviously a bane!
Whoa! It was shocking, wasn’t it? But I do have something that can help! Want to know? These are some substitutes that can help you distance away from soda.
· Flavored Water- This one is a tasty and healthy substitute. You just have to infuse a fruit or herb in water. You can add ice according to you.
· Juice
· Sparkling Water- Carbonated water is not that healthy but it is 100 times better than soft drinks.
· Flavored Sparkling Water
· Iced Tea- Iced tea is one of the tastiest substitute. Iced tea is available at most of the cinemas too!
· Minty Water with lemon- It’s the perfect substitute for the summers, when you want a refreshing and cool drink. It’s completely healthy.
· Water- It is the healthiest and cheapest replacement for soda. But you don’t want to drink water all the time!
· Tea
· Coffee

Well, this is the time to alter our bad habits that can really damage our own bodies. Please take action, quick!
